stated that Mr. Rob Messenger, MP, Ms. Toni Hoffman, Nurse and the reporter, Mr. Hedley Thomas from the Courier-Mail, were "three individuals that have brought to light a situation which could not have come to light but for their courage and their tenacity." He went on to say that all three of these people "deserve credit for bringing those matters to light." He concluded by thanking them all.

Toni Hoffman, a nurse representing many went to Rob Messenger, a Member of Parliament and told him what was going on. Rob Messenger, MP listened and brought this issue before Parliament. An investigation was nearly dropped before it got going until Mr. Hedley Thomas, a reporter checked online with the Oregon Medical Board and consequently exposed Jayant Patel.
Toni Hoffman could have given up and not tried one final time to have a person in authority address Patel's actions, but she didn't. Rob Messenger being the new guy in Parliament could have held back to not make waves and could have ignored Toni as so many others had before, but he didn't. Mr. Hedley Thomas could have done what the other reporters were doing and just paraphrase someone else's words rather than checking things out for himself, but he didn't.
They all are true heroes. Toni Hoffman suffered for her attempts to get the truth out. Rob Messenger took a chance and did the right thing. Hedley Thomas did something that not a lot of reporters have been doing recently and that was actually researching and reporting fact.
There is one more heroe here - at least to me. That is Mr. Morris and I say that not knowing what the outcome of this Inquiry will bring. From reading over the transcripts of these hearings I believe that Mr. Morris is one of the most fair, courteous, thoughtful and professional individuals in this world today and I regret that there are not more like him. I encourage everyone to read over these transcripts. In reading this material, you will of course learn exactly what was said and by which person. You will also learn what clear communication skills are, how to show consideration to all people and how to show absolute fairness to all sides of an issue without inserting your own personal opinions.
We can all learn from Mr. Morris.
